Liquor shop 'will abide by all laws'

THE applicant for a liquor shop at Kirrawee has responded to community concerns that it is not appropriate for the area.

Sutherland Shire Council approved an application earlier this month by Mr R Yousif to open a liquor shop in Putland Close.

Several councillors lodged a rescission motion and said it was not suitable for a low-density residential area.

Residents also objected, saying it was too close to Kirrawee High School.

Mr Yousif said that as the father of four children aged 10 to 23, he understood the concerns of parents.

The rescission motion will be debated at next Monday’s council meeting (August 27).
