The Transport Minister and Oatley MP Mark Coure announced a major upgrade for the station last Friday and promised that the planning work would start immediately.
The Transport Minister said that tenders would be out soon for the engineering and scope work to produce the best options for the challenging station entry.
The government will undertake the necessary work to determine the scope of what will be needed to make the station accessible for customers, including those using a wheelchair, the elderly and families with prams.
Mr Coure, who turned 34 on the day of the announcement, said it was the best birthday present.
The upgrade is one part of the $770 million Transport Access Program – a state government initiative to deliver improvements for public transport customers.
A lift, new stairs, upgraded footpath and landscaping will be considered as part of a package of improvements.
