THE recreational fishing season began on the weekend and recreational fishers dusting off their gear are advised to make sure they have a current fishing licence.

Glenn Tritton from the Department of Primary Industries, said it was important every fisherman not only prepared their equipment before heading out this weekend, but also checked they had a current licence.
