A 20 year old ENGADINE man, will remain in custody until he appears in court in October after a spate of armed robberies in Sutherland Shire.

Sutherland police arrested the man at a Sutherland service station on Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly tried to rob an Engadine business half an hour before.

Police seized a number of items in a car linking him to three armed and attempted armed robberies earlier this month.

It is alleged the man’s robbery spree began on August 2 when he used a knife to rob a 7-Eleven convenience store on the Kingsway at Cronulla.

Two days later, police allege the man robbed a BP service station at Engadine on the Old Princes Highway, assaulted an employee and left empty-handed after threatening to use a knife.

On the same day it is alleged he tried to rob a convenience store on Woronora Road, Engadine and assaulted an employee before leaving with nothing.

He was charged with three counts of assault with intent to rob, armed with an offensive weapon and one count of robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

The man was refused bail and is due before Central Local Court on October 18.
