Babies On Air is a dedicated program sharing parenting information for children up to 5 years of age. From what to expect from a newborn and how to interpret their behaviour and to what to expect when you send your 5-year-old off to their first day of school.
The program helps parents understand the emotional, mental and physical journey of raising children as well as sharing sources of help for those who need it.
Hosts, Maureen and Irene are registered with the AHPRA ( Australian Heath Practitioner Regulation Agency ) and are Registered Nurses and well as Child and Gamily Health Nurses.
Maureen and Irene have worked in Child and Family Health in the St. George and Sutherland Shire areas for over 30 years.
Babies On Air provides practical suggestion based on the hosts, Maureen and Irenes, experience working as resisted and child and family health nurses.
The information provided during the program does not constitute as medical advice and for all medical concerns it is recommended that you consult your family GP or your paediatrician.
Maureen
I have always felt very privileged to work with mums, babies and young families, for over 30 years, in a job that I loved and found very rewarding.
Another great passion of mine is radio, and as a child I would often be listening to the radio whilst my friends would be watching TV.
After seeing an article advertising a presenters course at 2SSR, I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to combine the two and when I suggested this to my husband he immediately said you could call it “Babies On Air”.
Irene
I grew up in Sydney and then became a Nurse.
My nursing qualifications include Registered Nurse, Midwife, Child & Family Health Nurse and many other post graduate studies gained in my nursing travels over the years.
Apart from being a Mum and a Grandmother my nursing career covered many years (particularly in Sutherland and St George Hospital) but mainly in Child & Family Health where I worked for over 25 Years – this afforded me the privilege to gather knowledge from those beautiful people in my world.
So, consequently after a number of years when I was not so actively involved in hospital or clinic works I decided to put that knowledge to work doing a radio show at 2SSR.
Fortunately another nurse, Maureen, who I had worked with in Child and Family Health centres for many years felt the same way as I did about presenting a show all about little ones from 0 to 5 years.
Hence the program “Babies On Air” was born
Absolutely love presenting this show.
