Sutherland Shire Council will review its planning controls on the removal of trees, foreshore developments and floor space ratios to promote ‘‘clarity and assurance for home and land owners’’.
The council will also change its policy in pursuing the forced removal of waterfront structures such as boatsheds which, in some cases, have stood for 50 years or more.
It will ‘‘appropriately increase floor space ratio in residential zones to reflect reasonable expectations in the area’’.
The changes were outlined by mayor Kent Johns at last night’s council meeting and will be implemented as soon as possible.
The council will be seeking new candidates for its independent hearing and assessment plan and architectural review panel.
