Generations came together for a significant moment in Australian wartime history last week.

Diggers, navy cadets and children marked the battle for Australia at a wreath-laying ceremony held by Miranda RSL Sub-Branch on the first Wednesday of September.

The service commemorates the event when Australia faced its gravest crisis of the Pacific arena during World War II and recognised the sacrifice of those who served in defence of the country in 1942 and 1943.

In attendance were primary and high school students from Our Lady Star of the Sea, Kareela Public School, Sylvania High School, Port Hacking High School and Gymea High School. Australian naval Cadets from the training ship Sirius attended.
