Sutherland Shire Council will host a free expo open to all women in the Sutherland Shire to celebrate International Womens Day and inspire women to start a home-based business.

The free event will be held at Gymea Tradies on Wednesday 13 March from 10am to 12pm and council has invited 10 local home-based business owners to present their products and services and share their knowledge about setting up a business.

“We are delighted with the support local business women have shown for the event; giving their time to attend and talk about they started a home-based businesses and how they manage family and work commitments,” Sutherland Shire Mayor Kent Johns said.

The diverse businesses attending the event include catering, homewares, marketing services, baby equipment hire, kids clothing, toys, photography, accountancy, coaching, jewellery and beauty therapy. All businesses started as home-based and some have grown to establish their own business premises outside the home.

“Many of the 52,000 active ABNs registered in the Sutherland Shire are home-based businesses run by women who have found a niche in the market” the Mayor said.

“Council is inviting women in the Shire who may be thinking about how they can use their skills to earn an income from home, to come attend the morning tea and find out how other local women have achieved this,” the Mayor said.

The theme of this year’s morning tea is

“Celebrating the puzzle of life”.
