Laura Coleman
Is a stand-up comedian and blush blindness survivor based in Sydney
First picking up the mic at the tender age of thirty, Laura has performed at the best comedy clubs in Australia and was a two-time finalist in Triple J’s RAW Comedy contest. As seen at the Melbourne International and Sydney Comedy Festivals, where she has presented three solo hours, Laura is as passionate about comedy as she is about sticking it to ‘the man’, whoever that may be at the time.
Brett Nichols
Since winning Australia’s premier comedy competition Green Faces in 2003, Brett has become a regular headline act on both the Sydney and National comedy circuits – club and corporate.
Brett has strutted his stuff on The Footy Show and The Comedy Channel’s Stand-Up Australia, and has entertained Aussie and New Zealand troops in East Timor and the Solomon Islands.
A finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Brett’s versatility and ad-libbing excellence see him transfer every show into a night his audience will never forget! His mix of the ‘clever’ and the ‘rude’ will appeal to the yuppie and yobbo in everyone.
Brett has also worked as an Audience Warm-Up Comedian for Ready Steady Cook!, The NRL Footy Show, Top Gear Australia, Fox Sports’ The League Lounge and Gladiators.
Brett, along with his identical twin brother and partner in crime, Mark, is also an award-winning filmmaker and screenwriter. The twins’ short film Identical was a finalist in Tropfest 2016, while Washed Up, another short comedy, made competition’s shortlist in 2014. They were also runners up at the 2003 IF Awards, being nominated for Best Unproduced Screenplay, for their comedy feature film script Hodads.
Brett is also a fine dramatic actor. In 2014 he starred in The Comedian, a powerful 15-minute short drama directed by Brendan Donoghue, which screened at film festivals around the world, including the Melbourne Film Festival and Flickerfest, in 2015. It also won ‘Outstanding Short’ at the Short Sweet Film Fest in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
Gary Eck.
Gary Eck has starred in several Australian movies, including 2003’s You Can’t Stop The Murders (which he had written for as well) and The Night We Called It A Day, and also in 2006’s BoyTown. Eck has also appeared in several short films.
In 2007, Eck appeared as himself on a regular basis on The Nation, a television show that aired on Channel Nine (alongside Mick Molloy as host).
Eck has done comedy on several shows, including Good News Week, Joker Poker and The Footy Show. One of Eck’s performances at Sydney’s Comedy Store is the basis for his stand-up CD, Gary Eck Live!
In 2010, Eck, alongside George Miller wrote a screenplay for Happy Feet Two. The film was released on 18 November 2011. He also provided additional voices.
Daniel Townes
Laconic and dry-witted with a warm onstage charisma, Australian Stand-Up Comedian Daniel Townes’ shows are packed with sharp one-liners, savage social commentary and dark-but-hilarious tales of his own failings.
Society’s shortcomings and foibles — from the big questions of life through to the petty grievances of day-to-day existence — are neatly excised by his sharp, razor-edged wit and rapid-fire delivery, guaranteeing a ferocious hit rate of punchlines-per-minute.
Townes pours 16 years of experience onstage into his dry, intelligent and brilliantly relatable comedy, with a laid-back charm that makes entertaining a room full of strangers look easy. With a knack for uncovering universal truths and packaging them with punchlines that relate to everyone, by the end of the show you’ll feel like you’ve known him for years.
He’s an annual regular at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Sydney Comedy Festival. He has performed at the prestigious invite-only Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, and won fans worldwide, headlining comedy clubs throughout the UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, Germany, Spain, Ireland, South Africa, Canada, The Netherlands, the UAE, Qatar, and all over Australia.
His hour-long special for Comedy Next Gen (ABC Comedy) in 2018 was one of their most popular for the season. He has also performed on Comedy Up Late (ABC Comedy), The Stand-Up Series (Just For Laughs Sydney, Comedy Channel), Good News Week (Ch 10), Stand Up Australia (Comedy Channel), The Footy Show (Ch 9), Stand Up (ABC), and had numerous appearances on Cracker Night, The Sydney Comedy Festival Gala (Comedy Channel).
He currently has two full-length specials available: Previously (2012), and Crash and Burn (2018).
