Bookings are now open for this year’s Seniors Concert at the Sutherland Entertainment Centre from 1:30pm to 3pm on Thursday 28 March. The concert will feature songs from the biggest musicals to have captivated audiences in the last 10 years.
“I am very impressed with the program this year. Anyone like myself who is a fan of big show tunes is in for a real treat,” Sutherland Shire Mayor, Kent Johns said.
The audience will enjoy songs from Les Miserables, Boy from Oz, Cats, West Side Story and Phantom of the Opera performed by award winning artists.
Multi Mo and ACE award winning vocalist Karen Beckett has appeared on Australian television, is a featured performer on luxury cruise ships like the Q E 2, and sang up a storm at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. She received excellent reviews for her performance of Fantine in an Australian production of Les Miserables and has recorded several albums plus toured with Neil Sedaka.
Stephen Fisher-King is a nine times Mo and seven times ACE award winner, including Entertainer and Male Vocalist of the Year. Stephen, a classically trained baritone, is one of Australia’s leading singers, recording artists, and entertainers. Stephen’s performances include
Hello Dolly, Evita and Cats,
and he has toured alongside Sarah Brightman in
The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber
.
Cabaret artist Robert Jeffrey who started his professional career at age 11 in
Wizard of Oz
and
Oliver
at the Lyric Theatre and went on to appear in
Les Miserables, Joseph & His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat,
and
Wicked
is another prestigious Mo and ACE award winner to perform at the concert.
Another feature of the concert is comedian Al Showman, a pure gold music hall performer whose rule in life is that “You don’t stop laughing when you get old, but you do get old when you stop laughing!” The warmth of Al’s comic personality is infectious and vivacious MC Susie Smither plus the John Charter Band accompanying the singers will make this year’s concert an event not to be missed.
