2 Feb 2013 – 17 Mar 2013
The popular annual showcase of outstanding art by 2012 HSC students from around NSW.
The exhibition includes a broad range of approaches to art, with a variety of media used. Visitors to the gallery will be astounded at the work these young minds have created. The exhibition is full of fresh ideas and reveals extraordinary technical skills by young artists from the Sutherland Shire and throughout NSW. A visitor to ARTEXPRESS at Hazelhurst will be rewarded by seeing the sheer diversity that young people have employed in depicting sophisticated ideas. Artworks examine a variety of interesting themes ranging from issues of social, cultural and spiritual significance through to aspects of personal identity and home environment. This year there’s also a strong emphasis on nature and the impact of man.
Hazelhurst adds another perspective to this exhibition with a focus on the art making process – the journey an artist takes when planning and producing an artwork, including a few wrong turns along the way! Such a view often reveals the artist’s intent or rationale which can be a pathway towards a greater understanding of the work. The exhibit includes the bodies of work of 51 exceptional students, 10 of whom are local.
In conjuction with ARTEXPRESS Hazelhurst will run a series of HSC Intensive Workshops where students can develop skills and explore new expressive forms. The program is designed for senior secondary students to extend their art practice and develop a body of work
