Police pause to name new puppies

Police at Menai’s dog unit named seven new puppies.

The new pups are the first springer spaniel litter from the unit’s breeding program, and are known as its ‘‘A’’ litter.

Facebook friends of police used a social media puppy poll to name the dogs.

The four male pups were named Alpha, Arrow, Aero and Alfie, while the female puppies will be known as Ava, Autumn and Annie.

NSW Police Dog Unit Commander, Superintendent Mick Goodwin, said the puppies will probably be used for drug, explosive or cadaver detection.
