MORAN ENGADINE BIG NEWS!

Celebrates over 100 years experience on international nurses day!

A combined total of over 100 years nursing experience is an achievement worth celebrating!

Moran Engadine is reflecting on its nursing staff whose years of experience, kindness and compassion make life sweeter for the residents they care for.

International Nurses Day is held on 12 May each year, coinciding with the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth, the founder of modern nursing.  The residents and staff at Moran Engadine will mark the day with a celebratory afternoon tea.

Leading the Moran Engadine team is General Manager Pam Osborne, who started nursing as an AIN (Assistant in Nursing) in Bathurst at age 16 and later became a Registered Nurse.  Pam’s skills lie in mentoring junior nurses to advance their skills and be the best they can be.  She is passionate about individual care for aged care residents, ensuring their lifestyle is as active and fulfilling as possible whilst their health needs are taken care of with care and compassion.  “The bond we as staff form with our residents and their families is very rewarding.  As a nurse in aged care, you get to make a difference in so many aspects of residents’ lives from health to lifestyle.  It makes you feel very special” said Pam.

Also part of the Moran Engadine nursing team are Care and Lifestyle Manager Caroline Chokururama, Quality Manager Kim Hunn and Registered Nurse Narda Walker.  All studied nursing at University, beginning as AINs (Assistant in Nursing) and progressing to Registered Nurses.  Moran Health Care group provides ongoing training for its nurses and regularly gives student nurses placement opportunities to gain vital work experience.

Nursing holds a special place in the hearts of the Moran Health Care Group, founding director Greta Moran was a nurse herself.  Moran employs approximately 450 nurses in its three Aged Care Homes, located in Engadine, Sylvania and Melbourne with new homes under development at Kellyville and Belconnen.  The Belconnen home will be on the grounds of the University of Canberra with medical links for teaching and care.
